Good food, good politics

Everyone enjoyed fried chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans and rolls.
Ghazala Hashmi, a candidate for Virginia's lieutenant governor, introdued herself to club members.
Dr. Gary Greenhalgh, who served as director of the National Clearinghouse on Election Administration at both the U.S. General Accounting Office and, later, the Federal Election Commission, gave an interesting presentation on his experience with the voting process.
The Picnic Committee deserves credit for a successful event.

Attendance at the club’s annual summer picnic June 8 at the LOW Community Center was stronger than ever. Dr. Gary Greenhalgh, who served as director of the National Clearinghouse on Election Administration at both the U.S. General Accounting Office and, later, the Federal Election Commission, gave an interesting presentation on his experience with the voting process. Ghazala Hashmi, a candidate for Virginia’s lieutenant governor, attended to introduce herself and ask for our votes. It was a memorable evening, thanks to the work of the club’s Picnic Committee.
